Seasonal risk is predictable enough to plan for but different enough to expose static security programs. Build temporary changes around calendar, project, staffing, inventory, weather, and occupancy patterns.
Identify predictable change
Review holidays, shutdowns, inventory peaks, project closeout, deliveries, temporary labor, weather, darkness, vacancies, and maintenance periods at least six weeks ahead.
Adjust controls temporarily
Move or add camera coverage, update schedules and authorized activity, secure or relocate assets, improve lighting, increase monitoring or patrol windows, test backup power, and refresh contact lists.
- Construction: protect appliances, copper, tools, fuel, and demobilizing areas
- Warehouses: manage peak inventory, trailers, temporary staff, and carrier exceptions
- Both: cover longer darkness, severe weather, and holiday closures
- Test new rules before the high-risk period begins
Stand down deliberately
After the period, review incidents and near misses, restore schedules, remove temporary access, relocate equipment, reconcile assets, and retain the plan as a reusable seasonal playbook.
